The COCAFCAL co-operative (Cooperativa Cafetalera Capucas Limitada) is located on the Western side of Honduras, near the Mayan ruins, in the buffer zone of Celaque National Park. This is a cloud forest containing the country's highest mountain. The land was originally used for growing tobacco. It was changed to accommodate coffee growing during the 1950s.

The cooperative is made up of 950 members and represents coffee farming communities from San Pedro and Corquin municipalities of Copan. They work together, promoting sustainable development of their local  economy with coffee funds in order to receive financial, technical, productive and marketing services for its members and families. Their main objective is to reduce poverty and increase the communities' quality of life.

COCAFCAL invested in certification premiums in an environmental campaign to promote the maintenance of community spaces and reduce litter and paid for the construction and installation of twenty waste dumpsters close to local schools, churches, health clinics and grocery stores. The dumpsters were also painted with environmental messages. The cooperative also coordinated presentations for school children on the proper handling of waste, cleaning and community space stewardship.
