The coffee is picked by the smallholders and washed and dried on the farm, often at high altitudes and steep slopes. They are also sometimes brought to nearby beneficiary for processing. Some farmer make use of the roofs of their houses for drying patios before collecting the coffee at the dry mill or cooperative headquarters fro cupping, scoring and sorting for export.
