La Morena is more than just coffee from Guatemala. It is a celebration of women. Women who are left, right and centre, shaping the future of coffee production in Guatemala.
Historically, coffee in Guatemala has traditionally been a male-dominated industry. La Morena was created to showcase the incredible work of female producers while ensuring they receive premium prices and a dedicated market for their coffee.
Today, the programme supports 1,796 women farmers, providing training through Volcafe Way in sustainable farming, coffee quality, business skills, and financial management. This has led to better coffee being produced, stronger businesses and much greater independence for coffee producers.
Every bag of La Morena coffee purchased gives back to the community. For every pound sold, $0.15 is donated to Wakami, supporting women in rural areas with training in entrepreneurship, finance, and market access.
