This farm was bought by Marina Lopez de Pacas, Federico Pacas Lopez’ (owner of Café Tuxpal) mother in 2008 and is part of the big cooperative called Cafe Tuxpal.

The history of Café Tuxpal traces back to 1905, when José Rosa Pacas bought his first farm in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec Mountain range, Finca San Rafael. José planted coffee trees from the Bourbon varietal, and, a few generations later, coffee still runs in the family blood.

This specific land was used years ago for rooster fighting and it is rumoured that Central American presidents came to this farm to play in the 1970’s. There is still one of its 5 lots named after the roosters “La Galerra”.

When this particular farm was acquired, it had been abandoned for years so it was completely replanted with Pacas and Sampacho trees.
