Our SECOND Artist Edition collab!
As an independent, art-loving and slightly quirky Cardiff-based coffee shop, we're packed with creatives on a daily basis (and we have several on our staff as well).
We know first hand that visibility is EVERYTHING for upcoming artists so we decided to team up with some of our favourite local art-makers to celebrate and highlight their incredible work.
Our new artist edition is Joey Crow. Joey is a Cardiff based illustrator and a comic book writer & artist.
Here's what Joey had to say:
Hello! My name is Joey Crow and I’m a comic creator and illustrator.
In my work, I like to explore between lines, between colours and even between worlds. My comic ‘There’s a Bus Beyond the Veil’ tells a story that lies between the real world and the beyond. It follows an Angel and a Reaper who are just terrible at their jobs, but take solace in the little moments of the human world, stopping for ice-cream… or even a coffee at Quantum!
I don’t just tell stories through comics, but through moments. I love capturing feelings within a single illustration — often resulting in things turning slightly abstract and colouring outside the lines.
Stories can be told in a single image, a sequence of words and drawings, or even coffee! (If you’re brave enough.)
I encourage everyone to try this blend, capture every bit of flavour and perhaps tell a story of your own!
